[OpendTect_Developers] Pre-release 4.3.1

Dear fellow developers,

We have made a pre-release of OpendTect 4.3.1 (v4.3.1#) for the 
developers. It is now available through our new Installation Manager. 
Therefore to install the Pre-release packages, please download and run 
the new Installation Manager available at:

-- In the Installation Manager, select Release type 'Development' and 
choose your installation directory. OpendTect is now going to have a 
different directory structure. The idea is to have an OpendTect 
directory at a location specified by the user and then have all OD 
installations e.g. 4.3.1, 4.4.0 etc as sub-directories of OpendTect. 
This allows the installer to access all OpendTect installations under 
one umbrella.

-- After you press 'Proceed', you get the OpendTect Package Manager 
window. Here you can select packages to install. The packages which are 
already installed will show 'checked' status. Ideally one should be able 
to uncheck and uninstall an already installed package but this feature 
has not been implemented yet. Therefore you can either add packages to 
your installation or upgrade existing packages.

-- The 'File list' button when pressed gives you the list of files 
installed for a particular package.

-- Once you press 'Proceed' in the package selection window, packages 
(to be installed and to be upgraded) are downloaded and then installed. 
You get a confirmation message at the end of a successful installation.

-- A few  known issues with the Installation Manager:
     * On Windows, after installation is finished you may get a warning 
message saying the installation may have failed. More often than not, 
this warning is false and we are investigating why it is coming.
     * The uninstall feature in Windows may not work and also you do not 
see OpendTect in the Control Panel list of installed programmes. So, 
uninstall just remove the folder by hand.
     * The icons in the Package Selection window may not show for users 
other than the one who installs the application.

-- When we have an actual public release of OpendTect in a couple of 
weeks, please get rid of your pre-release installation, download a new 
Installation Manager and start from scratch.

Development of plugins in OpendTect has become much easier now as we 
have adopted CMake (http://cmake.org). Especially on Windows it saves 
you from a lot of hassle. Please refer to the Programmer's manual which 
is available in OpendTect (Help -> Programmer).
