Dear OpendTect users,

dGB is excited to announce the upcoming release of OpendTect Pro later this
year. OpendTect Pro will be freely available for all commercial and
academic license holders of OpendTect.
The benefits include state-of-art tools such as:

   - PDF-3D,
   - Connection to Petrel,
   - Mapping tools in the new Basemap utility,
   - Accurate Ray-tracer

With today's patch release of OpendTect v5.0.6, we are releasing our new,
improved PDF-3D plugin. *This means all functionality in OpendTect 4.6 has
been included in version 5.*

As a teaser of the upcoming OpendTect Pro release, PDF-3D is directly
available for free for everyone who has a commercial or academic license of
OpendTect*.

The plugin allows you to grab a 3D scene in OpendTect and store this in pdf
format. The file can then be shared with colleagues, managers and partners
who can open it in the free Adobe Reader, or embed it into a Powerpoint
presentation.
In Adobe Reader you can view, rotate, zoom, toggle elements on and off, and
otherwise manipulate 3D graphics. A sample PDF-3D file can be found through
this link <http://dgbes.com/images/PDF/samplePDF-3D_F3_Demo.pdf>. Please
note that it has to be opened in the Adobe Reader, and not your web-browser.

To install or update to the new version, either use the Installation
Manager from the Utilities menu in OpendTect or download the Installation
Manager from our download center:

For a list of bug-fixes that are included in the v5.0.6 patch release,
please refer to http://opendtect.org/rel/RELEASE.txt and

Sincerely,

Kristofer Tingdahl

*Commercial license holders who do not have a license file can obtain one
from support at dgbes.com. Evaluation licenses can be requested from
