Dear OpendTect users,

Please be informed that release 2.0 Beta is now available from the
OpendTect download center at www.opendtect.org . Highlights in this Beta
version are:

    * 2D seismic data support
    * multi-machine processing on Windows (NT,2000,XP)
    * Batch processing of attributes on horizons
    * Handling files larger than 2Gbyte
    * Improved volume rendering
    * Numerous bug-fixes and improvements
    * Prototype fault and horizon tracking

Although most of the tracking functionality works and we are very
pleased with the interactive workflow for tracking multiple surfaces in
a geometrically consistent manner we are not completely satisfied with
the current result. We will continue to work on this but considered it
more important to release the tracker now and ask the open source
community to give valuable feedback on workflow and code than to
postpone until the software had reached Beta status. To get you started
the tracking prototype is therefore delivered with user documentation
and example workflow.

The commercial plugins to OpendTect (dip-steering, neural networks, and
workstation access) need a new license key to run version 2.0. In the
coming week we will distribute such keys to the designated contact
persons in our database.

I hope the software meets your expectation and I am looking forward to
any response you may have.

Best regards,

Paul de Groot.
