Hi Vaqar,

We had complains for the developer package installation problem
before, but as far as I know it was fixed in the latest version.

Yes it is possible to change the interface and recompile OpendTect
again, and that is the benefit of the open source package.

It seems that the installation of the developer package and the software
are in different locations, let me explain the process in brief. First
you have to download the developer package as you have done already, now
install the package in the same folder where OpendTect software is
installed, for e.g. if OpendTect is in C:\Program Files\OpendTect4.0,
you have to install the developer package in this location only. Now
create your 'work' folder, this could be at any location or even on a
different drive, and usually the name should be ODWork. Now run the
'Create Devel Env' tool from OpendTect and select the work folder and
press ok, now all the libraries will be copied to the work folder, just
add the required environment variables to 'My Computer" and you are
ready to work. It could also be done in a different way, where you first
create the 'work' folder and install the developer package right in to
the 'work' folder instead of the OpendTect installation folder, and the
work folder immediately becomes your work environment, just have to add
the environment variables as usual. Also not you need the third party
packages like Qt and Coin if you like to build OpendTect from scratch.

Yes This link describes "How To" for development on Windows.

No not this one, as you can see it is for the older versions.

Indeed, the manual pages need some updates, and I will be working on them.
