New Seismic Attributes

Join us for a Webinar on April 3
This webinar is for OpendTect users that are interested in using the
latest and best seismic attributes for understanding stratigraphy,
facies and morphologies, or to identify and map potential reservoir
lithology in seismic data. The webinar presents several new attributes
that are now available in OpendTect based on new principles, thus
providing new and complementary views to understand your seismic data.

*HorizonCube-based attributes*
The HorizonCube enables a very detailed seismic interpretation. It
allows identifying systems tracts and is used to build depositional
models. Interpretations can now be quickly QC:ed in 3D, by using the new
HorizonCube layer attribute. In addition, structures like pinch-outs or
clinoforms can now be easily identified using the HorizonCube by
calculating the event density, or by looking at the thickness variations
between consecutive HorizonCube events. Dip information can also be
extracted from the HorizonCube; For example, using a model driven
HorizonCube, the model-driven dip can be extracted and then compared to
the real dip provided by the SteeringCube. This workflow is used to
identify multiples. Finally seismic attributes can be applied on the
HorizonCube events using the HorizonCube Data attribute providing a high
resolution seismic analysis.

*Texture attributes*
Texture attributes are now available in OpendTect. The concept relies on
the idea that areas with similar common signal character are related to
a geological depositional system. The objective of the texture
attributes is to cluster data based on a statistical pixel analysis. Dip
information provided by the SteeringCube can be taken into account,
improving the accuracy of the final texture clustering. Texture
attributes are helpful in seismic facies analysis, seismic morphology,
and neural network type of workflows.
At the end of the webinar the participant will know when and how to
apply these new attributes, to better interpret the litho logical
make-up of the subsurface that is imaged in the seismic data.
