[Developers] Plugin for Input Data from Database

I want to develop a plugin that will read data from a database rather
than a SEGY file when we go to File>>Import>>Seismics>>SEG-Y>>2D or 3D
in the interface. Where will I find the code responsible for taking in
input parameters from the SEGY file and assigning them to variables  so
that I can modify it to take input data from the database. I referred to
the Programmer's manual but could not find this information there.

Any insight into this matter will be highly appreciated.
