[OpendTect_Developers] building OpendTect from source

Dear Developers,

I am trying to build OpendTect from source. The process stops at:

[ 75%] Building CXX object src/SoOD/CMakeFiles/SoOD.dir/ViewportRegion.cc.o
[ 75%] Building CXX object src/SoOD/CMakeFiles/SoOD.dir/LegendKit.cc.o
Linking CXX shared library ../../bin/lux64/libSoOD.so
/usr/bin/ld: CMakeFiles/SoOD.dir/libSimVoleon.a.dir/GIMPGradient.o:
relocation R_X86_64_32 against `.rodata.str1.1' can not be used when making
a shared object; recompile with -fPIC
CMakeFiles/SoOD.dir/libSimVoleon.a.dir/GIMPGradient.o: could not read
symbols: Bad value
collect2: error: ld returned 1 exit status
make[2]: *** [bin/lux64/libSoOD.so] Error 1
make[1]: *** [src/SoOD/CMakeFiles/SoOD.dir/all] Error 2
make: *** [all] Error 2
