Dear users,

Calculating surface data may take some time and it may therefore be
handy to perform calculation of surface data independently.
That's why OpendTect gives the possibility to compute them as background
tasks. This feature is reachable via :
Processing-> Create > output using horizon -> Horizon grid
This was so far for 2D data the only choice possible in the "Create
output using horizon" menu. Two new options have now been
added in the next stable release 3.2:

*Create output between horizons*: This will create a seismic output
from a 2D attribute between two 2D horizons.

*Create output using Horizon Slice*: This creates a seismic output
from a 2D attribute in a time interval relative to a single
2D horizon.

The next stable release will also give the opportunity to the users to
calculate and apply attributes like Coherency (attribute which
emphasizes areas of highest discontinuity), Convolve (attribute which
returns a filtered response), Velocity fan filter (attribute
which returns energy with apparent velocities inside a given range) in
2D surveys.

The OpendTect "Evaluate attribute" feature which is the automatic
variation and evaluation of attributes and their parameters
(like time gate and stepout) is now also available on Random lines, 2D
lines and Volumes.

Regards,
